Druid Wedding at Stonehenge
It was around 5:30 am back in late July when I headed to deepest Wiltshire for a Druid Wedding at Stonehenge.
Chris and Claire had decided the time was right for them to get married and decided that Stonehenge and a Handfasting ceremony was the way to go.
I’ll talk more about their amazing Handfasting Druid Wedding at Stonehenge after this.

I've photographed several Handfasting ceremonies before, but never one at dawn at one of the most sacred Druid sites in Europe.
I'd been looking forward to the wedding for a long time by the time it arrived.
“Dear Kevin, The photos are lovely. Thank you so much. I had a brief look through yesterday - it was very exciting receiving your e-mail!! Thanks again - I had no idea you were taking half the photos you took - surely the sign of a great photographer!”
I met up with Chris and Claire and their guests at the visitor centre where were then transferred up to the stones themselves.
Because I'm a storyteller photographer, I was keen to get images that set the scene and the context of the day.
Unfortunately, we didn't have the glorious dawn sunrise that we all hoped for, but, never the less, the weather did hold, and it was still a stunning and moving ceremony.
With all my photographs, I try and make the viewer feel like they were part of the day. I shoot to give my clients images from a "guests eye point of view".
I like to call it Shooting from the Inside Out, rather than the Outside In.
For those who don't know, Stonehenge is "Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, 2 miles west of Amesbury. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 feet high, 7 feet wide and weighing around 25 tons." It's very, very impressive and it's quite rare to be allowed inside the ring of stones, let alone photograph a Druid Wedding at Stonehenge.
Once the short ceremony was over, we headed to a local cottage where Chris and Claire and their family and friends had an English breakfast followed by some time in the garden and by then, the weather was charming.
I'd started my working day at 5 am and had finished by 10 am.
That's an odd feeling as a wedding photographer, but it was quite a unique day and indeed, a lovely day.
What I felt at the wedding also was that this was a celebration not only about Chris and Claire but about their children too.
They were as much a part of it as the bride and groom, and it was lovely to witness.
